Tuberculosis Testing
Tuberculosis skin tests are available at the Stone County Health Department by appointment. The fee for testing is $10.00. A parent or guardian must accompany clients under age 18. All clients will be required to return 48- 72 hours after the test is administered so that the results may be read.
Tuberculosis Treatment
Case management and medication is available for clients with active or latent TB at no charge. The medication is provided by the Missouri Department of Health. A physician’s order is required.
Latent TB
People with Latent Tuberculosis or LTBI, do not have any symptoms and cannot spread TB disease to others. However, some people who have LTBI may develop TB disease later in life if they do not receive medication.
Active TB Symptoms
- A bad cough that lasts more than 3 weeks
- Pain in the chest
- Coughing up blood or sputum
- Weakness
- Fatigue
- Loss of appetite
- Chills
- Fever
- Night Sweats
