SCHD environmental health staff are responsible for the inspections of food establishments, on-site wastewater treatment systems, child care facilities, hotels/motels and vacation home rentals. Environmental health staff also conducts complaint investigations and laboratory testing of private wells.
Community Health
One of the primary goals of the Stone County Health Department is to improve the health of county residents and good health begins with prevention. Therefore, the SCHD is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Stone County by providing health education to people of all ages.
The WIC program provides breastfeeding education and support, nutrition education, referrals to appropriate health agencies, and nutritious foods for eligible applicants.

Communicable diseases are illnesses that can be transmitted from one person to another or from animals to humans. These diseases are caused by infectious agents like bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites, and can spread through direct contact, air, water, food, or vectors such as insects.
Birth and Death Certificates
Certified copies of most Missouri birth and death records may be obtained through our office. We can access birth records from 1920 to present and death records from 1980 to present.
